Three ways to shine this Christmas

Between the rush of checking off your gift list, catching up with family and friends, and planning lunches and dinners, Christmas and New Year is a seriously busy time. To make things a little easier, take the guesswork out of your makeup and try one of these iconic beauty looks.

“I’m really into eyeliner at the moment, whether it’s a classic liquid liner, a soft and smudged-out liner, or something sexier, like cat-eyeliner,” says makeup artist Max May. Whichever way you go, “choose a look that will work with your eye shape and that will wear well throughout the day and night – you don’t want to be worrying about anything moving, fading or creasing, as you dance the night away!” Try: Butter London Power Up All Day Liquid Eyeliner, which has a flexible tip for precise application, the waterproof Velvet Concepts Velour Eye Pencil, or Natio Long Lasting Eye Liner, which has a blender on one end for easy smudging.

Skip full coverage foundation and keep your base lightweight with a tinted moisturizer or alphabet cream, like Nude by Nature Sheer Glow BB Cream, which delivers a naturally luminous finish, follow with strategically applied bronzer to mimic a sunkissed effect (Napoleon Perdis Matte Bronze is a super-fine powder that has no shimmer), and finish with blush “to add a subtle hint of youthful colour,” says May (Dr Hauschka Blush Duo has two shades in each pan so you can customise colour).

Let your outfit dictate your lip look, suggests May. A sheer tinted balm has a relaxed vibe (Butter London Plush Rush Tinted Lip Treatment pairs delicate colour with nourishing shea and murumuru seed butters), while liquid lipsticks, like Bite Beauty Cashmere Cream, delivers the sophisticated, saturated colour of a lipstick with comfort.
