We’re turning 40! We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this milestone with our customers!
EziBuy began as a response to what the people wanted - the ability to simply pick up the phone and have fashionable clothes delivered right to their door. Peter Gillespie and John Robinson began the EziBuy journey in 1978 in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Not long after, Peter's brother Gerard joined the Team. Each copy of the very first catalogue was personally typed and addressed to 5500 potential customers found in the local phone book. We have seen lots of changes through the years (including big hair, bell bottoms and classic 80s fonts), but one thing has not changed - our dedication to bringing quality, convenience and confidence to our customers. And thanks to our customers’ dedication to us, we’ve gone from 5500 catalogues to sending out 23 million a year.

Honesty, integrity, trust and pride - these are the laws that we at EziBuy abide by in everything we do, from our product sourcing, to customer relationships, our plans for the future, and more. We exist to delight our customers, and we are driven to succeed and grow so we can continue to do this in new and exciting ways as we head towards our next 40 years. We’re seeing the openings of new stores, new relationships with other successful brands such as the Australian giant Noni B, and we just can’t wait to expand even further and share new opportunities with you, our customers!
There’s nothing more important to us than our customers, and we are so grateful to have embarked on this journey with you all. We couldn’t have done it without you! So from all of us at Ezibuy, thank you for the last 40 years – here’s to the next 40!
Our catalogues and covers throughout the years are glimpses into history. They’re not only a timeline of the growth of EziBuy, but of New Zealand as well. We’ve seen foggy 80s lighting, feathered fringes and power silhouettes, as well as a couple of fledgling New Zealand stars as cover girls. The very first catalogue in 1978 wasn't really a catalogue at all, in fact - it was a black and white A3 page that not only included women's fashion, but power tools and shampoo!
