Where to Donate Old Bedding

Naturally, you’re going to have to replace your bedding at some point. But it can be tricky to know what to do with the old stuff - throwing it out seems wasteful, so thankfully there are ways to recycle your unwanted bedding.

Below, we’ve listed where in Australia you can donate old bedding.

WHERE TO DONATE BEDDING IN AUSTRALIA

GIVIT

GIVIT directly matches people looking to give away preloved goods with those in need. You can post on their board that you have old bedding to give away, select a delivery method, and wait for someone in need to respond.

Available across Australia.

LIFELINE

While it’s actually more of a counselling and support service, Lifeline manages to keep its telephone services going using the profits of your donations. They accept blankets, along with many other items. You can donate directly to their shops.

Available across Australia.

St Vincent de Paul Society

The Vinnies works hard across Australia to help people in need. They supply families in need with donated items free of charge, while selling any surplus stock in their shops across Australia.

You can arrange for a collection of your preloved bedding by contacting your closest St Vinnies store.

Available across Australia.

The Smith Family

The Smith Family is dedicated to bringing welfare to disadvantaged Australian children. While they prefer good quality clothing, The Smith Family also takes bedding in good condition - that is, no rips, stains or tears.

The Smith Family actually has a dedicated donation line you can call at 1300 737 166. Here, they can tell you where the closest clothing bin is or, if you’re in the ACT or NSW collection areas, even arrange a collection from your home.

Available in the ACT and NSW.

RSPCA

A surprising one in the mix, the RSPCA needs old blankets as bedding for the many animals they take in. You can drop off blankets at any shelter across Australia.

Available across Australia.
