It’s no secret velvet is making a comeback this season, and by the looks of things it’s going to be a big one.
From major fashion houses like Ralph Lauren and Jorge Vazquez to street brands, we are seeing velvet lay the foundation for dresses, jacket, bags and even suits – adding an element of romance and texture to our everyday fashion items.
Deep greens, rich reds and luminous blues are at the essence of this after dark inspired look, taking the trend and offering it in wearable cuts fit for bold and fashionable women everywhere.
Amy Adams in Tom Ford and Nicole Kidman in Armani Prive used accents of velvet at the BAFTA’s to create depth and draw the eye, with both women opting for column cut dresses that reflected the sleek and glossy fabric beautifully.
We’ve used velvet detailing to create textured print detail on our Capture Devore Shirt, a flattering longline cut that will take you from work to the weekends in this season’s hottest trend.

Grace Hill are taking the velvet trend seriously, offering up a range of tops, tees and jackets including our favourite Grace Hill Crushed Tunic, available in khaki, mulberry and royal blue colours.
If you’re looking to try the trend but are not quite sure that velvet’s right for you, you’ll love the chic black colour and classic cut of the Grace Hill Overlay Tunic. And available in a plus size version from Sara.
If you are ready to take this look and run with it we suggest making like Iman and Tilda below and introducing this look in the form of a tailored velvet jacket, so chic, so powerful, so sassy.

Looking for something a little more detailed and embellished, our Sara Burnout Kimono in multi print combines sexy sheer styling with an intricate velvet pattern throughout. This vintage inspired cover up embodies this season’s hottest trend but allows for timeless wear and can be dressed up or kept casual with jeans and boots – the reason it’s out latest lust after look.
Grace Hill also offers a vintage inspired cover up with their Velvet Jacket in black, featuring appliqué detailing to the front chest and sleeve cuffs. Dresses are also getting the velvet makeover, with a huge range of velvet styles dropping here at Ezibuy in our current catalogues and plenty more to come for the winter season. Sara’s Burnout Dress in khaki and in navy is just one example of velvet embellishments giving it a modern yet retro inspired update.
And finally, for the real fashionistas amongst us – we’ll be replicating this stunning jumpsuit look from Eleanor Tomlinson seen below.

Keep your eyes on this space; well be dropping even more styles in the next few weeks with dresses, tops and accessories all getting a velvet revision. Will you be trying this trend for A/W17?
