As the blossoms start to bloom and we get more warm sunny days, we move into picnic season. Whether it’s a catch up with your best girlfriends in the park, a Sunday drive to picnic in a field with your partner or a trip to the beach with the kids, picnics are a great way to enjoy the outdoors. I always keep a picnic rug in my car, and have the picnic basket packed and ready to go with a moment’s notice! The only things left to organise are picnic food in your cooler bag and the perfect picnic attire!

If you’re going to wear a dress on your picnic excursion, make sure it’s reasonably loose fitting (especially in the skirt) to allow you to move and sit comfortably – especially if you’re sitting on the ground rather than a picnic table! I personally go for knee length or longer, which means I don’t have to be concerned about flashing fellow picnic-goers while reaching for the brie…

I love these soft linen tops – the slouchy look is perfect for picnicking! You can pair them with cropped or full length trousers or leggings, depending on your style. I especially love the long sleeves on this style – they’re ideal for the spring days that are still a little chilly or breezy.

I love the freedom that trousers give you for picnics – I’ve never really been one to sit “like a lady”, and pants allow me to move around without worrying about that. These pants are a firm favourite this spring – the abstract painterly design is a great take on the floral trend! I’m also loving these jogger style pants – pair them with a linen top and you’ve got the sports luxe trend nailed.

Even though it’s not the middle of summer, it’s still important to make sure your protect yourself from the sun. Make sure you always have a hat and sunglasses on hand, and apply a good sunscreen regularly.
Happy picnicking!
