Playing with Pastels for Plus Size Clothing

Pastel hues are not showing any sign of disappearing from fashion trends any time soon – and we’re pretty happy about that!

We love the versatility of pastel clothes, with soft, feminine colours that pair perfectly with so many wardrobe staples. It’s not just clothes where we love to see pastel – accessories, makeup and nail polish add pastel perfect finishing touches to any outfit.

Whether you’re a girly-girl who loves the femininity of pastel, or you’re daring to try something a little different in your wardrobe, there are a number of ways to include these soft hues.

One of our absolute favourites from the Ezibuy collection is the Sara Cowl Neck Sweater. It comes in black, mint blue and soft pink. While you can never go wrong with black, we love seeing ladies take home the pastel colours, and we think you’ll even want to take home one of each!

Here are our tips for wearing pastel with confidence:

Start with the details

If you’re keen to wear pastels but not sure you want to commit fully to the trend just yet, start off with some sorbet-coloured accessories. Jewellery is an easy starting point – try some pastel coloured bangles, a chunky necklace or cute drop earrings. Navy is a great colour to match with pastels; so pair your navy wardrobe pieces with a pastel nail polish for a subtle yet striking combo.

Colour block

If you’re not afraid to dive straight into the deep end when it comes to wearing pastel clothes, the colour block is the way to go. Wear the Sara Cowl Neck Sweater on top, then match with a darker piece on the bottom that comes from the same colour family. An easy example of this is to go for a pastel blue sweater with blue jeans. If you’re feeling really bold, mix things up by going for bright bottoms with the pastel sweater up top. It’s definitely a fun way to show off your personality, creativity and confidence. A full monochrome pastel look is another strong fashion statement. Match your top and bottom with the same pastel hue; it will elongate your body and is sure to turn heads for all the right reasons.

Soft and simple hair

When wearing pastel, hair and makeup should be kept simple so that it doesn’t overpower your outfit. If your hair is longer, fresh waves look soft and simple and complement the feminine feel of your outfit. If you’re going for our cowl neck sweater this season, experiment with some soft up-do hairstyles with a few loose strands around your face, again going for look that is less harsh than a slicked-back do. Pulling your hair off your face like this will give the cowl neck feature an opportunity to take centre stage. A low and messy bun is a cute look, an easy enough to pull off while still looking like you’ve spent time styling it!

Neutral base

If you’re usually someone who goes for black, white and navy pieces in your wardrobe, then use these staples as a foundation for your pastel outfit. You will generally never go wrong pairing pastels with black, white and navy. Nothing says fresh and stylish like a pastel coloured piece up top paired with white bottoms and a cute pair of espadrilles. Black works great as a base for office-friendly attire. Try a pastel dress with a black blazer, or your cowl neck sweater with a smart pair of black trousers.

Pastel is such a fun colour to play with, and the Sara Cowl Neck Sweater makes it easy to introduce this look into your wardrobe. We love seeing how our customers include these trending pieces to create their own unique look.
