Looking for somewhere new to eat? Are you visiting Wellington on a holiday? Ava, from our Customer Service Team recommends Sweet Mother’s Kitchen as one of her favourites!
My favourite place to eat is Sweet Mother’s Kitchen, 5 Courtenay Place, Te Aro, Wellington. I love the atmosphere and the food! How it’s decorated is pretty cool too… Nothing too showy – looks modest and has a distinctly hip vibe.
The food at Sweet Mother’s Kitchen is inspired by New Orleans and Mexico. I’ve been quite a few times so have sampled the menu! Breakfasts I’ve tried were Egg Sadu and the breakfast burrito, both vegetarian and around the $20 mark. Really good portion size, so good and big that I struggled to finish either. We also had dinner there – a burger, that was at the pricier end of the menu, but still delicious and worth it.
I would rate the restaurant for value at a good 3 out of 5. They have big portions with a lovely flavor, that you’ll be hard pressed to find elsewhere. The service was quick and friendly despite being very busy.
What would you suggest wearing to Sweet Mother’s Kitchen?
The restaurant is frequented by young and middle aged along with tourists. You see all kinds of clothes, but largely a lot of jeans and blazers. As the place gets very busy, if you’re going for dinner it’s best to bring a jacket as the last tables to go are outside.
