The Work Edit

Six months into the year would be a good time to assess the state of your work staples, whether you are eyeing up that promotion, have a bunch of interviews lined up or just simply want to add some freshness to the most hard working pieces in your closet.

1. The Dress

You can’t really beat a black dress for the workplace. Go for a length you feel confident in, one that falls just under the knee like the one pictured below or this Next Midi Jersey Dress for those who like something a bit longer. Throw on your favourite black blazer like this classic one from Capture, paired with the usual suspects like black pumps and a structured black bag.

2. Trousers

Dressing on Monday mornings are made much easier by a trouser and blouse combo. The Grace Hill Signature Pants come in four colours: black, grey, white and stone, but I’d leave the lighter shades for the warmer seasons. The Next Slim Trousers, available in grey and navy, would work really well with printed blouses like these ones from Emerge.

3. Shirts and Knitwear

Layering is a no brainer during winter, especially if your office has an unpredictable air conditioning system. I know you know what I’m talking about. Easy to peel off layers like cardigans over button down shirts are ideal for keeping it professional while staying warm at the same time.
