Jeans, jeans, jeans..... How to shop for your dream denims.
There are few things more daunting than the prospect of buying a new pair jeans. Denim just can be TRICKY. But necessary, as for a lot of us it’s one of the most-worn items in our wardrobe making it an essential purchase. There can be a few stumbling blocks to finding the perfect pair so its a good idea to consider the following pre-purchase – fabric, fit, stretch, cut, wash, price tag.
WHEN YOU BUY
Ordering online is an excellent wait to try denim. It is a much more comfortable process to do an online order and try out new jeans in the comforts of your own bedroom. Not only does it take out the ‘clammy, sweaty, possible risk of dislocating a joint, it also means that you can consider your purchase a little more. Sit down, walk around, can you bend over? Can you do a squat? You can also try them on with other items in your wardrobe, to see if they work with your collection.
Another thing to keep in mind when you’re shopping for denim is that a trip to the tailors might come in handy. If found your perfect wash, and you love the fit around the leg, but it’s wide at the waist then a tailor can nip it in for a small cost and there you have your perfect pair.
Here’s a snippet of our suggestions on some basic denim essentials to line your closet with, starting with the white jean..
Emerge Fray Hem Distressed Skinny Jean
A nice white jean, spells fresh like nothing else. We love the slim leg and fray hem of this style. They are flattering and easy to style up or down.
A good trouser cut, straight leg jean is one to invest in. The distressed colour of this pair, make them great for weekends, and the straighter silhouette helps to elongate legs. These ones with a bit of stretch are optimal as they are both comfortable and stylish.
Looking for a do-it-all dark denim pair of jeans? These ones will do the trick and then some. The dark colour and coated fabric, make them sleek and versatile, perfect paired with a shirt and blazer for evening. Also, works with clean white sneakers and a tee-shirt for a casual daytime look.
Wide-leg denim has recently made a bit of a come back. Which we are pretty happy about, as the flattering leg lengthening effects are always a good time. Wear these with a belt with buckle for a bit of a 70’s inspired look.
