In the latest blog series from us at EziBuy we look at some of our favourite stars and their star style secrets.
From red carpet moments to their off duty looks, what makes these celebrities win the fashion game each and every time? And how can we replicate the look without the designer price tag? Let’s look at the first celebrity in our Star Style Series.
A queen on the red carpet; Kate always looks cool and confident, radiating femininity and elegance in every outfit.
Like all of us, Kate’s style has evolved through the years. She’s embraced her feminine curves in figure hugging dresses, worked the androgynous look in tailored suits and tuxedo jackets and dressed her pre and post pregnancy figure in a way that proves you can be sexy before and after baby.
Take a look at some of the points that work for Kate and see where you can incorporate these into your own wardrobe.
Fitted Dresses
It’s no secret Kate knows how to rock a red carpet…and it certainly helps that Kate counts high end designers Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, the late Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham amongst her closest friends, calling on them to whip her up killer couture gowns for formal events and red carpet moments.
Kate has one of the most famous hourglass figures in Hollywood and knows how to work it. Below Kate wears a number of fitted dresses, all of which fall just below the knee, creating the illusion of longer leaner legs and a more svelte shape through the hips and thighs.
Colour
Kate loves a little black dress and is often seen rocking this classic look on red carpets however; she’s also incredibly adventurous when it comes to her fashion choices, dressing for her body and mood rather than current trends. This can be seen in her penchant for colours that really pop – from bold reds and burnt orange to soft pastels in silky fabrications, Kate can rock colour just as well.
Kate’s first Oscar’s appearance in 1996 saw her wear the above pink gown, a colour that did not wear well against Kate’s pale skin however, Kate revisited the drawing board and came back brighter than ever. We love the colour palette she’s played with in these looks but most of all…we love the confidence, you can tell Kate feels as good as she looks.
Lace
Offering instant glam; lace has become a fashion go-to for elegant and timeless styling and Kate has championed this trend like a true star. Whether you’re an A-lister dressing for the Oscars or simply heading out on a date night with the hubby, lace works wonders on every woman.
Again, we can see Kate’s style evolution in how she incorporates lace into her look, opting for a more minimalist approach in recent years. The trick with lace is to keep it simple; the delicate details immediately draw the eye and are best paired with clean line accessories in matching black or soft nude. If you do feel like a bold statement add a red lip and slicked back hair…oh-so-chic.
Plunging necklines and strapless dresses
Kate has often talked of being overweight and unhappy with her figure as a young woman, not having female role models with curvier figures and broad shoulders like herself to look up to, rather than shy away Kate plays up these traits, showing off her shoulders in plunging and strapless numbers like the below.
Kate pulls of this look by keeping it classy. When showing off the top half Kate opts for long flowing gowns that cover her lower body, keeping her outfit balanced and modest yet sultry and sophisticated all at once.
We love the minimalist hair and makeup Kate pairs with her strapless silk gown, allowing the beaded belt and décolletage area to shine through.
Off duty jackets
Let’s be honest though; how often do we require red carpet worthy looks in our everyday life? Unfortunately, not often.
And that’s why we love Kate’s off duty looks just as much as her put together formal fashions.
A huge fan of jeans, t-shirts and tailored jackets; Kate keeps her off duty looks comfortable and fuss free and pulls it off perfectly. One constant in all of these looks is the jacket; whether it’s an oversized blazer, trendy leather look or a military inspired jacket, Kate pulls together her look by adding a well fitted outer layer and versatile handbag – something we can all actually do.
‘I accept my body. I accept how I am and make the best of what I am given.’ Kate Winslet.
So, whether we’re walking the red carpet or the grocery aisle we can all take a few style tips and confidence cues from Miss Kate.
