Our Favourite Winter Trends
As we usher in the cooler months, it’s also time to usher in the new winter trends and styles that come with it – and with this season’s latest offerings, how could we refuse? Embroidery, lace, pleats, floral and more are here to give us small pockets of sunshine to get us through the upcoming unpredictable weather – with a focus on sumptuous textures that just beg to be touched.
Old School Glamour
Moving away from summer, boho becomes a little bit fancy with folk fashion taking over. 1970’s vintage in 2018 autumn/winter sees floral mixed with suede, a lot of embroidery and rich velvet. Our most-wanted outfit for the season is the perfect blend of romance and old school glamour – we’ve paired the Emerge Long Sleeve Embroidered Top underneath the Velvet Slip – mix and match colours and tones to create a wide range of go-to outfits. Simply throw on a faux fur vest and knee high boots and you’ll be looking like a street-style star instantly.
Warmth: Coats & Jackets
The perfect winter coat is only a few clicks away from your wardrobe – timeless sophistication and the immortal cool-girl vibe that is the oversized boyfriend fit is captured in the Emerge Classic Blazer. Slight shoulder pads and gathered sleeves give a relaxed yet refined aura that will go perfectly with anything from jeans to dresses.
Padded, quilted, cushioned – in our opinion, there’s nothing better than when wrapping yourself in something that feels like a blanket becomes super-fashionable, and the puffer jacket still reigns supreme around the world. It’s so easy to style these – invest in a classic black quilted piece, or dare to be different with the great colour options available. Get yours oversized to duplicate the bulkier silhouette that is so on-trend right now, and pair with a slim-fitting pant and boots. Alternatively, the Emerge Puffer Coat is a great option for a slimming look while still staying warm, thanks to its princess seams and long-line cut.
It’s all about livening up the dreary weather at this time of the year, and what better way to do it than with striking prints in easy-to-wear styles. Grace Hill have given us a stunning option in the Wrap Knit Dress. A synthesis of contrasting polka dots in the classic wrap-around design – the epitome of effortless, throw-on-and-go elegance. And as we all know, one of the best things about a print-focused piece is that it makes creating an eye-catching outfit so easy. Emerge’s Bell Sleeve Shift is simply refreshing, with its bright floral and intriguing border print detail.
We’re loving the textures that come with colder temperatures – pleated velvet, velour and chenille – we just can’t wait to pair them together and see what soft and sumptuous combinations we can come up with! We’re living for the Capture Knit Jumper, an irresistibly soft feather knit with a handle you won’t believe. Cosy up in front of the fire with it worn over the Emerge Velour Leggings and fur slides. This season, velvet is not only a throwback to folk chic, but a statement of luxe style. The natural opulence makes for a chic outfit that takes little thought. The Grace Hill Printed Velvet Skirt has delicate pleating that will dance with the body and gorgeous floral – wear it with anything from crisp shirts to floaty blouses and lace.
Speaking of lace, the timeless trend is showing no signs of slowing down – which is understandable, considering its reputation as one of the most feminine and alluring fabrics. The Sara Pleated Lace Dress is one of the most stunning yet easy-wearing pieces we’ve seen so far. A model of craftsmanship with flattering cascading pleats complementing a sultry black lace yoke. If you’re looking for an update on the perennially graceful lace and leaning towards new colours, we’ve got wines, reds and burgundies that will pop at any occasion. Mixing new silhouettes is also another way to add contemporary charm. The Grace Hill Lace Dress has super-on-trend bell sleeves and a choker neck detail – designed with ultimate modern femininity in mind.
