Sale season is almost here. See our top tips on how to maximise the opportunities..
The end of the year is fast approaching and with that comes, the big sales! These are well worth paying attention to as you can snag yourself some essentials (and non-essentials) at a fraction of the price. But in order to avoid ending up with loads of unwanted goods, we have complied a check list to help you think before you buy.
Do you already have it in your wardrobe?
Take stock of what’s already in the closet and what is not – This gives you the best indicator for what you should be targeting. Look at your wardrobe and bag up anything you haven’t worn in the past six months – if something hasn’t been worn over that time, it’s unlikely you’ll bring it out again soon. Bin it and take note of the gaps in your wardrobe, then shop from there – simple.
Will it actually suit your body shape?
So, you saw a picture of Gwyneth Paltrow, in a LBD and are on the hunt for something similar. But are you dressing for your shape, or a six foot tall blonde Amazonian?? It is worth spending some time thinking about what is in your wardrobe already that suits you.
Would you buy it if it wasn’t on sale?
If you wouldn’t buy it full price, then it might not be worth spending even half of that. Try to remember that the best deals only really apply to the clothing that you’re going to wear often and not to those that will be left hanging in your wardrobe.
Will it date quickly?
Avoid on trend items and stick to investment pieces that you will be able to wear for years to come.
Can you picture wearing it with three other items in your wardrobe?
Don’t buy anything if it involves needing to buy other items. If a piece is right, then it should automatically work with your existing pieces without too much adjustment
Have you done your research?
